Responsibility must be firm: the Ministry of Education responded to a professor's remarks about "hungry Ukrainian women."

According to Education Minister Oksen Lisovoy, such behavior does not align with the changes in the cultural environment that the ministry is working on.
Минобразования отреагировало на высказывания профессора о "голодных украинках", подчеркнув важность строгой ответственности.

The Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovoy, responded to the comments made by Professor Nikita Vasilenko of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, emphasizing that reactions to such statements and the accountability for them should be strict. He expressed this opinion in a comment to the publication "Babel".

Additionally, the head of the ministry labeled these remarks as "unacceptable".

"Especially if they are broadcast in the enemy's information space. The university administration plans to consider the ethical aspects of this instructor's behavior at the relevant commission. However, I am aware that this is not the first time the ethics commission has convened for this reason," Lisovoy noted.

The minister added that he does not have the right to interfere with the autonomy of the higher education institution, but he can express his own assessment. Currently, according to Oksen Lisovoy, the Ministry of Education and Science is working on changing the culture of the educational environment in universities. Therefore, "such behavior definitely does not fit into these changes".

The Scandal with the Professor of Taras Shevchenko National University: What is Known

On December 23, Professor Nikita Vasilenko from the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University stated that if foreign peacekeepers arrive in Ukraine, "starving Ukrainian women" who have lost their husbands at the front will bear children from them, thus causing a demographic surge in the country. The instructor compared peacekeepers to Nazis, claiming that young women during the occupation bore hundreds of children from them.

The Student Parliament of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism at KNU announced a boycott of the institute's administration. In their statement, students also demanded the dismissal of Professor Nikita Vasilenko.

The incident also drew a response from the Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets. He reminded that this is the second time he is responding to statements by Nikolai Vasilenko. A year ago, he received a statement from students, which led to the professor being held administratively accountable. At that time, the instructor received a reprimand.

The rector of the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University, Volodymyr Buhrov, noted that the university administration will "take measures". He added that Nikita Vasilenko will be held administratively accountable in accordance with current legislation.
