The Russian command may be concealing the number of soldiers killed in the war in Ukraine. To achieve this, mass burials are arranged for those who allegedly could not be identified. Videos showing the digging of mass graves in an undisclosed location were published on the anonymous Telegram channel Supernova+
A video of a potential mass burial of Russians surfaced online on the morning of February 3rd. A male voice can be heard recording, stating that excavators are working in the field. Nearby, there is a queue of trucks that the operator suspects are transporting deceased Russians.
"This is a mass grave. Look, there’s a truck. Over there, you see, there are more trucks. Mass graves. Basically, they are burying the guys here and then claiming they went missing. This is the kind of d*ckery happening here," the man says.
In the video, around 4–5 excavators can be counted digging pits of probable dimensions 5 m by 15–20 m. About seven trucks are captured on camera. One truck is positioned directly in the field, and according to the off-screen voice, they are "dumping" the deceased from it. The other six or more are lined up several dozen meters to the right.
As of now, OSINT analysts have not determined where exactly the video was filmed or when it was made. There is no visible snow in the footage, nor does the ground appear frozen enough to hinder the excavators from digging.
On the X network, you can find other footage of a possible mass grave being dug. The operator showcased a similar terrain, a dug-up area, and white trucks, which he claims are for the deceased Russians. It is also indicated that this location is the settlement of Snezhnoe, situated 50 km east of Donetsk. The video appeared online in November 2024.
Meanwhile, in the fall of 2024, the Russian media outlet Moscow Times published an article. The publication reported that 20 unnamed Russian soldiers were buried in temporarily occupied Luhansk. A mass grave was discovered at the memorial site "The Unhealing Wound of Donbas."
On January 2, the publication Business Insider reported the results of the tallying of casualties of the Russian Armed Forces in 2024. The estimates were based on publications from local Russian media and social networks, with efforts made to verify all data. Analysts established that throughout the year, the Russian Federation lost 427,000 military personnel while occupying 2,500 sq. km of Ukraine.
We remind you that on January 27, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his opinion regarding the ratio of casualties of the Russian Armed Forces to those of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
