Rocket strike on Christmas night: during the shelling of Ukraine, a DTEK energy worker lost his life.
On Wednesday, December 25, during a massive missile strike by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian territory, DTEK energy worker Dmitry Petlenko was killed. He was employed at one of the thermal power plants, reports the organization's press service.
The organization noted that he was found under the rubble without any signs of life after search operations were conducted.
What is known about the deceased
DTEK reported that Dmitry Petlenko was 51 years old. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to the profession of an energy specialist. He worked for a long time at the Zaporizhzhia TPP. After the occupation of Enerhodar, he was employed at another thermal power station of the company, where he had been working for the last one and a half years.
The company emphasized that this is a significant loss for Ukrainian energy workers. They expressed condolences to all who knew the deceased.

On the night of December 25, the enemy launched Caliber cruise missiles from the Black Sea into Ukrainian territory. Additionally, the enemy conducted launch maneuvers with TU-95MS in the Engels area.
An air raid alert was declared across the country, and shortly thereafter, explosions were heard in several cities of Ukraine. In particular, explosions were reported in Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Kremenchuk. "Ukrenergo" announced that due to the Russian attack, electricity restrictions would be implemented.
Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko noted that Russian troops are launching mass attacks on the energy system. He added that necessary measures are being taken to limit consumption in order to minimize the negative consequences for the energy system. Following the command from "Ukrenergo," DTEK implemented power outage schedules in Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also responded to the missile attack. He pointed out that the enemy's target is Ukrainian energy. The occupiers aim to plunge the country into a blackout.
