Instead of diplomas, a compensation of 109 UAH: "Ukrposhta" lost a letter containing important documents.

The university stated that these documents are quite expensive to produce and require a significant amount of time to create. This is not the first incident of this nature involving the educational institution and "Ukrposhta."
"Укрпошта" вместо дипломов выдала 109 грн компенсации: пропало письмо с важными документами.

In one of the branches of the joint-stock company "Ukrposhta" in the city of Ternopil, a letter containing valuable documents was lost, with a compensation of 109 hryvnias provided. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Ternopil National Medical University named after I. Ya. Horbachevsky.

It was noted that on December 4, 2024, the university sent a registered mail item through the branch of JSC "Ukrposhta" in Ternopil 1 to the State Enterprise "Information and Image Center" of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine under tracking number 4600100063001.

As of January 13, 2025, the recommended mail item was still in the Ternopil Logistics Center according to the tracking status service — thus, the letter had not even left the city limits. In response to inquiries, "Ukrposhta" employees stated that the letter could not be found. However, in response to a request from Alexander Tokarsky, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Students, it was stated that the cost of the lost correspondence had been compensated in the amount of 109 UAH.

"The aforementioned mail item contains valuable documents for the university, specifically apostilled educational documents of foreign students issued by foreign educational institutions. These are necessary for the expedited recognition process by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The compensation for the lost registered letter cannot cover the damage caused by the loss of these documents. These are incomparable matters," the educational institution added.

They appealed to the company's management with a request to "establish proper operations" in the city and return the documents to TNMU. The university noted that due to the negligence of "Ukrposhta" employees, important international and domestic state correspondence has been repeatedly lost and not delivered to recipients in the Ternopil region. This undermines the image of the university, Ukraine, and "nullifies the reputation of Ukrposhta."

The press secretary of the higher educational institution, Yanina Chaykivska, informed ZAXID.NET that such a situation is not the first time. Postal workers have also lost other correspondence from the university.

She emphasized that the registered letter contains apostilled documents of foreign students, confirming their previous education. These documents are necessary for issuing diplomas after they complete their studies at the university. They are very expensive, and their preparation takes a lot of time.

University's Document Loss: Ukrposhta's Reaction

At the time of writing this material, JSC "Ukrposhta" had not responded in any way to the information regarding the loss of important documents.

We remind you that "Ukrposhta" introduced mandatory contributions that go towards the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, the state operator can collect up to 50 million UAH within a year.

It was previously reported that the enterprise pays its general director more than 1.5 million hryvnias monthly. However, the company’s head refused to provide data on how many employees earn salaries exceeding 100 thousand in response to a deputy inquiry.
