In a Lviv hotel, a man threw a grenade and was injured himself. Here's how the police responded to the incident.

In one of the hotels in Lviv, a man threw an explosive device, resulting in windows and doors being damaged by the blast wave. The man was hospitalized, local reports indicate.

Initially, city social media reported an explosion of a grenade on the third floor of the "Arena" hotel on Horodotska Street. One person was injured in the explosion, and windows were shattered in the building. Emergency services arrived at the scene.

Later, a video of the explosion was published. It shows a quarrel between two men. During the argument, they enter the premises. After a short time, one of them runs out into the hallway, and the moment of the explosion is clearly visible.

Explosion at the Lviv hotel "Arena": police statement

The Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv region reported that they received information about the explosion in one of the hotels in Lviv on Horodotska Street around midnight. Officers from other services of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, as well as bomb technicians from the Lviv region police, were dispatched to the scene.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that a 44-year-old Lviv resident, while on the third floor of the hotel, threw an unknown explosive device. As a result of the explosion, the man sustained injuries and was hospitalized," the law enforcement officials noted.

The department added that investigators have opened a criminal case under part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism). An ongoing pre-trial investigation is underway, with law enforcement determining the circumstances of the explosion and the origin of the explosive device.

Mayor Andriy Sadovyi and the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in the Lviv region did not respond to the incident at the time of the information release.

It is worth noting that not long ago in Lviv, bankers were embezzling clients' money. By possessing data of clients who could be located in temporarily occupied territories, they changed the financial numbers of citizens to controlled ones and issued new bank cards.
