At least 46 people have died as a result of the crash of a military transport aircraft in Sudan, according to AP, citing sources in military circles.
At least ten people were injured.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the crash site. The plane went down in the area of the city of Omdurman (Khartoum province).
Among the victims of the crash are several high-ranking Sudanese military officials, including Brigadier General Bahar Ahmed, one of the most prominent leaders of the Sudanese army.
Preliminary reports suggest that the plane crash was caused by a technical malfunction.
