As a result of the attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg, at least 4 people have died and over 200 have been injured.

German media have reported information about the suspected attacker.

His name is Taleb Abdulmohsen. He was born in Saudi Arabia in 1974 and moved to Germany in 2006. A specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy, he lives approximately 50 kilometers south of Magdeburg.

The alleged perpetrator has shared Islamophobic ideas online for many years.

In an interview with FAZ in 2019, Taleb Abdulmohsen described himself as "the most aggressive critic of Islam in history."

He founded an online platform to help Saudi citizens apply for asylum in Germany and claimed that the state grants asylum to "Syrian jihadists."

The text of his profile on the X site states: "Germany wants to Islamize Europe."

He also accused the police of using "dirty tactics" against critics of Islam.

Counter-terrorism expert Peter R. Neumann, a lecturer at King's College London, commented on the criminal's profile on the X site: "After 25 years in this field, it seems that nothing can surprise you anymore. But a 50-year-old former Muslim from Saudi Arabia, living in East Germany, who loves Afd and wants to punish Germany for its tolerance towards Islamists, is something I can't wrap my head around."

Abdulmohsen declared on the X site that he would take revenge on the German state: "I assure you that 100% revenge will come soon. Even if it costs me my life."

Many acts of violence in Germany are driven by conspiracy theories and far-right extremist ideas. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, since 1990, 109 people have fallen victim to right-wing terrorism. Moreover, since 2019, the total number of criminal offenses and acts of violence committed by right-wing extremists has been steadily increasing.
