In Belgrade, a car crashed into a crowd of people, seriously injuring a young woman during daily student protests that erupted following the collapse of a concrete canopy in the city of Novi Sad. State television RTS reported that the injured woman's condition has stabilized.

The police have arrested the driver and charged him with attempted murder. Since the protests began, several incidents involving reckless driving in crowded areas have been reported, but this is the first case leading to serious injuries.

Hundreds of students gathered on Thursday in front of the law faculty building in central Belgrade for an impromptu protest in support of the injured woman. They chanted slogans like "Murderers" and "You won't be allowed to run us over."

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić accused Serbian youth of receiving funds from the West to organize protests. He called the protesters "foolish" in a television interview last Sunday.
